About The Event

Learn about natural beekeeping in a Warrè Hive with Emily and Bianca.

Bianca (Ta'Moor Honey) and Emily (Bearfootbeekeper) manage hives in multiple locations throughout the Wollondilly area (and just happens to be two of the raddest beekeepers you will ever meet!).

Bianca and Emily are part of a collective of beekeepers called 'Warrè-Dilly' who are spreading the word on how to keep bees 'Bee-centrically' which means that the bees come before the beekeeper.

This is a beginners workshop which will be covering:

  • backyard beekeeping
  • beekeeping with kids
  • how natural beekeeping differs from conventional beekeeping
  • how to build your own hive
  • how to catch a swarm
  • making your backyard a pollinator friendly space

As long as the weather is suitable we will be opening a hive on the day.

Piccolo Farm is very lucky to be hosting one of Bianca's beehives at the farm on a permanent basis. We like to think of it as a mutually beneficial arrangement where the bees can enjoy all the flowers at the farm and we get the benefit of having our vegetables pollinated. Bees are an integral part of agriculture and we are very excited to hold this workshop at the farm for this reason.

We will be enjoying a morning tea and a light lunch from farm produce to keep you buzzing :D
